About Us

Wayne on Main is a stately Victorian era Bed and Breakfast that has been one of the social and architectural centerpieces of Honesdale. Originally the Sarah Miller House, built in 1897, it is ideally located in the historical residential district and is currently one of the homes featured in the Self-Guided Walking Tour of Honesdale, published by the Wayne County Historical Society.

Wayne on Main  is distinguished by its classic columns and handsome wrap-around porch. Relax on the porch swing, where you can close your eyes and imagine what it must have been like to live back at the turn of the century. Inside you will find a welcoming fireplace where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea to take the chill off the cooler months. Upstairs you will find bright and comfortable rooms, each with a private bath, TV, telephone (local calls are always free), a/c, heat and fresh flowers. In the dining room your breakfast usually consists of coffee, tea, fresh fruit, juice, pastries, cereal, yogurt, French toast or pancakes with local maple syrup, muffins, bacon or sausage and eggs.

Honesdale offers some great dining venues as well. Within walking distance from Wayne on Main is the award winning Bistro 1202, featuring creative dishes that are widely considered to be the best in the region. Also nearby is Wayne on the Hill, a charming restaurant with some unique and affordale meals served in a lovely country setting.

Surrounded by ancient maple trees (Honesdale is sometimes referred to as the Maple City) and one Ginkgo tree (the only one in Honesdale), Wayne on Main is within walking distance of the main part of town where you will find many quaint stores, restaurants, a farmer's market and antique shops. Did you know WINTER WONDERLAND was written on Church Street or that Honesdale is the birthplace of the first American commercial railroad? You can still relive the experience of the Stourbridge Iron Railroad or visit the museum to learn more. Wayne on Main is also a short drive from Lake Wallenpaupack and some of the best ski areas.

The surrounding area provides many recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, skiing, biking, and rafting, just to name a few.

So if you're looking to learn more about the country's history, or for a quick getaway weekend, Wayne on Main is just the place.
